Planning for success

SUCCESSFUL BUSINESSES DON'T HAPPEN BY ACCIDENT

Name any of the most successful businesses that come to mind and I can say with overwhelming certainty that they did not get to where they are today without some sort of plan.  Perhaps your aspirations for your business are a little more modest than Bill Gates, Steve Jobs or Richard Branson’s, but all businesses start out with one vision in common …… a desire to succeed in their chosen venture, why else would you start right?

It doesn’t matter if you are doing it for love or for money, your business must have a point to it, a reason for being there, a vision.  So whats your vision and how are you going to achieve it?

What does success look like to you? ……. it doesn’t have to be about money, success is more about having a vision or goal and achieving it …… if the point of your business is to connect low income families with free or affordable services, then success for you is going to look very different to someone who is motivated by money, so my first tip for planning to succeed in business is to start with your vision, be very clear about that, what is the underlying reason you are starting out in business.   That is your starting point.  Once you have a vision or reason for being in business, everything else will flow from here, and thats when the planning comes in.

There are lots of free resources for businesses and starting out in business.  Here’s a couple of my favourites as a starting point for planning your version of success:
